HAS OUR HISTORY been tampered with? Did events and eras such as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages and the Renaissance, actually occur within a very different chronology from what we’ve been told? There is growing disquiet among some historians that, not only do we not know what the future holds, but we are none too sure about the past either…

It is ‘common knowledge’ that the Classical Age was followed by many centuries of utter stagnation and decline with virtually nothing happening but wars and famine and the destruction of the priceless ancient monuments. Yet, during the Renaissance, the Classical authors magically re-appear from oblivion, Latin and Greek suddenly become the lingua franca of the Late Medieval intelligentsia, and numerous ancient manuscripts are copied, edited and widely disseminated—only to disappear again, never to be found. What was going on?

What if certain agencies were re-writing history? Could it be that so-called ‘Universal Classic World History’ prior to the 16th century, is a carefully crafted construct of lies and deception, fabricated in the 16th-18th centuries upon the ‘firm’ foundation laid down by assorted Italian scholars, clergy and humanists from the 14th-15th centuries?

Did Petrarca and Dante, Bracciolinni and Macciavelli, Giotto, Bernini, Da Vinci and Michelangelo Corporations not only create immortal masterpieces commissioned by the Roman Popes and Medicis of Florence, but also mass produced ‘ancient’ manuscripts for these same patrons, plus wealthy customers in England, France, Germany and Russia?

If the conspiracy is true, how far was it pursued? What if the history of Western Civilization is both drastically shorter and dramatically different from the version taught in our schools, in spite of the of Homo sapiens crowd being around for 150 000 years at least and age of the planet Earth being over 4.5 billion years?

What if someone told you that there isn’t a single piece of firm written evidence or artefact that can be reliably, independently and irrefutably dated to before the 11th century? Well, that is exactly what Russian researcher, Anatoly Fomenko is saying!

BACK IN THE USSR in 1973, a young mathematician called Anatoly Fomenko was working in the Russian Lunar Landing program, developing high precision mathematical models of the Earth-Moon system. After reading “Crime of Claudius Ptolemy” by American astrophysicist Robert Newton, Fomenko decided to look more closely into ancient history. For his brilliant research in applied mathematics Fomenko was nominated Full Member of the Academy of USSR, quite a sensation then, as he was only 30 years old and the youngest full member ever elected to the Academy.

There’s more: Fomenko is also a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Full Member of the International Higher Education Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor and Head of the Moscow State University Department of Mathematics and Mechanics. He solved the classical Plateau’s Problem from the theory of minimal spectral surfaces. Author of the theory of invariants and topological classification of integrable Hamiltonian dynamic systems.

He was Laureate of the 1996 National Premium in Mathematics of the Russian Federation for a cycle of works on the Hamiltonian dynamic system multitude invariance theory. Author of 180 scientific publications, 26 monographs and textbooks on mathematics, a specialist in geometry and topology, variational calculus, symplectic topology, Hamiltonian geometry and mechanics, computer geometry.

In spite of these impressive credentials, Fomenko’s “History: Fiction or Science?” was summarily denounced by mainstream soviet historians for “anti-Soviet,” and “anti-Russian” activity by daring to apply mathematics to classical world history. Since the break-up of the Soviet Union Fomenko’s work was viewed more favourably, until the new Russian nationalists discovered too their dismay that ancient Russians are not heroic blue-eyed blonde Slavic-Nordic Arians, but a mix of Turks, Tartars, Arabs and Slavs. Better yet, Dr Fomenko dares to assert that “The glorious 1100 years of noble Russia” is a pack of lies invented by German historians imported by Peter Great!

ACCORDING TO FOMENKO, so-called consensual history is a finely woven magical fabric of intricate lies about events preceding the sixteenth century. He claims there isn’t a single piece of firm written evidence or artifact that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the sixteenth century.

Further, Fomenko claims that many historical events do not correspond mathematically with the dates they are supposed to have occurred on. He states that all of ancient history (including that of Greece, Rome, and Egypt) is simply a rewriting of events that occurred in the Middle Ages and that Chinese and Arab history are fabrications of 17th and 18th century Jesuits.

As well as disputing written chronologies, Fomenko also disputes more objective dating techniques such as dendrochronology and radiocarbon dating.

Having cross-checked archaeological, astronomical, dendro-chronological, paleo-graphical and radiocarbon methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts, Fomenko found them ALL to be non-independent, non-exact, statistically implausible, contradictory and inevitably viciously circular because they are based or calibrated on the same consensual chronology.

UNBELIEVABLE AS IT MAY SEEM, there is not a single piece of firm written evidence or artefact that can be reliably and independently dated earlier than the 11th century. Classical history is firmly based on copies made in the 15th-17th centuries of “unfortunately lost” originals. In “History: Fiction or Science?”Fomenko returns the Chronology of World History to the realm of applied mathematics from which it was sequestrated by the clergy in the 16th-17th centuries.
